Many places are still under a lockdown or at least partial lockdown. This has resulted in a lot of people wanting to get away and have a retreat- other than their homes, of course. Being stuck inside your house for months on end can make you feel sick, and cabin fever hits hard when you’re not allowed to leave the house.
However, many smart homeowners are adjusting more and more, coming up with clever ways to have fun despite being stuck at home. If you have considerable yard space, you have the best place to have an outdoor retreat without having to go to crowded areas and risking yourself or your families. So what are other homeowners doing? Let’s find out!
Inflatable Pool parties
Sometimes, you want to hit the beach, maybe get wet a little, and then bask in the sun. With the pandemic still at large, it’s hard to go to public beaches but that doesn’t mean you can’t have something like it at home! Using an inflatable pool, some pool chairs, and umbrellas, you can make a small but fun inflatable pool party for you and your family.
Backyard Barbecue
Nothing feels more ‘outdoorsy’ than cooking outdoors. You can even make it more fun by cooking with your family! Teach the kids how to barbecue, or better yet, smoke some meat! Having a barbecue party with your family is perhaps the best way to feel like you’ve gone out without actually really going out. However, if you’re planning to invite other people, you have to take some precautions to make sure everyone’s safe.
Yard Renovation
Since your yard is your number one outdoor spot, might as well make it as good as you can right? If you have a patio, it’s probably time to repaint it, or finally clean your outdoor furniture. You can even go the extra mile and install a few more things, like retractable rolling awnings so you can stay out even under the sun or finish that DIY picnic table you’ve been putting off.
Get Into Gardening
Gardening is a fun but time-consuming hobby. Now that we have more time on our hands, now’s the chance to give it a shot. You can plant decorative plants, or if your area allows it, fruit-bearing plants so you’ll have something to cook in the future. Gardening isn’t just for beautification or time-burning, it’s also a great way to deal with the stress the lockdown brings.
Exercise Outside
Since gyms and other kinds of fitness centers are either closed, or it’s not quite safe to use them yet, your best bet is to exercise at home. While there’s the danger of accidentally hitting something inside your house, this worry can be removed entirely by exercising outside. You’ll be sweating under the sun, and have constant access to fresh air- something you won’t get in the gym.
The pandemic isn’t subsiding, and we all still have to be careful but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun. By using these tips, your family can have fun and stay safe.
